PANAJI- The elections to eleven wards of the Taleigao panchayat will be held on March 22 the State Election Commission announced on Friday. The five-year term of the panchayat will expire on March 24, 2009. Out of 11 wards, ward numbers 2, 6 and 9 are reserved for women and ward number 4 is reserved for women belonging to scheduled tribes, ward number 1 for OBC and ward number 7 reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The division of the Panchayat into Wards, extent and limits to each ward and reservation of seats is as per provision of sub-section (3) of Section 7 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act (Goa Act 14 of 1994) are listed in the Gazette dated January 15.
