The word poder means to be able to do, or the power to do something in
Portuguese. In Goa the word has been **cktarised to describe a baker. The
actual word is padeiro which is a producer or seller of bread.

In Pangim and in my opinion the best bakers are/were Padaria 31 de Janeiro
situated on the south side of Corte de Outeiro. In St. Inez there is an other
baker besides the one described by Rajan. They were situated just opposite
Tacur garagem and the owner was called Isidore Fernandes.

In the meantime one hopes that Goans one day will have total 'poder' of their
land by driving out all the invaders.
