The word "dotor" means doctor in Portuguese, as far as I know and doctors are supposed to treat and heal . What I cannot understand is - why is it used with reference to lawyers. Some (repeat "some") advocates in Goa are so corrupt that that they are the cause of diseases in a state which is riddled with property disputes. Addressing a lawyer as "dotor" therefore I feel, is a misnomer.
