When I said the average US or Canadian black would have difficulty
finding Africa on a world map, I really meant that Africa means little
to the black person in the US and to a certain extent in Canada. The
written word sometimes comes out not quite like you mean.

Of course in the literal sense the American white or black for that
matter has poor knowledge of geography. That was convincingly proved
by National Geographic some time ago.

In Canada that situation is much better. Due to waves of immigration
over the years, people are knowledgable of cultures which are
represented in Canada. There are a notable number of Nigerian,
Ghanaian, Somali, Eritrean, Sudanese and Ethiopian peoples in Toronto,
besides the traditional Caribbean people of whom the Jamaicans can
easily claim majority.

I hope I can avoid unnecessary controversy on this issue.
