Personally, I don't think this should be a major concern. We should respect other people's points of view (specially when it doesn't cause harm to the wider society beyond the individual concerned), however "unscientific" they may seem.
As a counter question: do scientific tests support the possibility that smoking and alcohol are good for health? Or that nuclear weapons benefit humankind?
