There Will Be An Influx Of Beggars
The roadside beggars are ever increasing in Goa, a good number of times, I have seen, Goans being very generous, and rightly so, most of us believe that charity is one of the steps that can help attain eternal life. We see the poverty laden, feel sorry and pity for them, we should help the needy and it's in the blood of Goans to be charitable, but we should also realize, it's good to be charitable only to the needy but certainly not to the crooked corrupt politicians of Goa. It's election time and along with the poor beggars there will be an influx of the elite beggars, begging for our precious votes, the poor beg for necessity but the alms that we give to the elite beggar, will make him more rich, more powerful and more arrogant. In between honesty and deception lie the credulous, that is between the good and the evil, it is we who are credulous and the gullible, easily swaying to the winds of money, power and religion. The Goan politicians have been preying on the credulous, gullible Goans for too long a time. We know we are being taken for a ride, but are still suckers for the guile of the politicians, and have been doing so at every election. They are experts in camouflaging their shoddy goods by packing them with glamour and fancy cosmetics. There is a striking or a distinct similarity between Goa and New Delhi, look at the aspiring PM's and CM's in both the places not forgetting the number of Ex-PM's and Ex-CM's in both places and the strong arm, arm twisting tactics, the blackmailing and the horse trading that goes on at both ends, to get Ministerial berths, family business flourishing in both the places, both places filled to the brim with criminals and shoddy characters, both places are filled with antiquity as well, both places incubate and emanate a strong stench of corruption. August is called the month of the dogs, election time is of the politicians, trying to tie the knot, when seeking alliance or match-making is at a feverish pitch, wherein character and integrity are irrelevant, only money and power are the criteria of the day. It's all unsavory guile that is being poured out by our politicians, playing with the buoyancy of sentiments of the general public, to orchestrate the execution of their own selfish agendas, and I am sure I am not wrong in my prognosis. Doom looks imperative, but there is still room for optimism. We Goans have to look beyond the flamboyant buccaneering and see who it will be, that will work for Goa and Goans, please do not get carried away by the promises of gifts during Christmas and Dipawali because they come just once a year, look for truly genuine people who will gift us with good governance 24 x 7 x 365. Will it be hazardous to speculate that we Goans have it in us to do it and in the process save our beloved Goa ?
