Goa football body slams Minister for soccer academy exit

Panaji, Mar 19 Goa Football Association (GFA) President Joaquim Alemao
has held Tourism and Housing Minister Micky Pacheco responsible for the
shifting of the proposed Rs 100-crore football academy out of the state.

The Minister did not clear the file pertaining to the allotment of land
even after the State Cabinet approved the proposal for AIFF-Bharti
soccer academy, he said.

"It&aposs a big loss ever for Goan football. One man held Goa to ransom.
Chief Minister Digamber Kamat and NCP leader Praful Patel tried their
best to make Pacheco see reason but he did not listen, and there is
nothing much one can do," Alemao said.

Pacheco belongs to NCP, a key ally in the State&aposs Congress-led
Government.

"The land for the academy ad-measuring 1.26 lakh sq mt was cleared by
the Cabinet but with the Housing Minister Micky Pacheco refusing to part
with the file, it has cost us dearly "he said.
