whoever tu leader comes we don't take any stand. cant remain. way we remain we no bombay can seve. won't remain more than 2 months. no sensa can stand here. we never oppose anyone. More flowers should bloom then only we will know their fragrance... > Remember that this happened (the attempted foray into Goa) > after Dr. Samant, for all his virtues, imperilled the future of > lakhs of Mumbai's mill workers. > > I think you will agree that we Goans don't mix with militancy of any > kind -- Doctorsaheb's or Muthallik's. Hi Valmiki, Was intrigued by your comments, so just phoned the AITUC office in Panjim to verify. Raju Mangueshkar was in, and he said: "Whichever trade union leader comes to Goa, we don't take any stand. Simply because they (won't last here for long). The way we serve (the workers), nobody from Bombay can do. Nobody will last here for more than two months. Neither Datta Samant nor any Sena." I asked him pointedly whether they had taken a stand against Samant. He answered in the negative, saying, "Many flowers should bloom ... [and in Hindi] only then will we know their fragrance." Unless I have reason to believe otherwise, I stick to my position that the opposition to Datta Samant was engineered by the business class who feared the possibility of sharply hiked wage demands from his style of unionism.
