I've finally gotten down to reading Dominic's Goa. What a wonderful, addictive
book this is, describing Goan life exactly as it used to be. One thing I love
doing is hanging around old bookstores, museums, archives, reading and
discovering about people's lives as they were years ago. I'm old enough to
remember Goa as Dominic describes it. Vestiges of it still remain in the
villages. But I can see 40 years from now, people just like me chancing up his
book in the library and recreating a visual of a bygone era, perhaps using it
as a good reference for something they themselves are writing. Dominic's book
now takes pride of place at the British library, amongst many other noteworthy
books on Goa, for generations of Goans in the UK to read.
Best,
