Goa’s beleaguered Advocate General finds himself in yet another controversy. Mr. Subodh Kantak has managed to appoint a close friend, Mr.Ramnath Pai, as his Private Secretary.
Mr. Pai, a Lower Division clerk (L.D.C.) with the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP). on a pay scale starting at Rs. 3050/- is now appointed in the Advocate General’s office on a pay scale of Rs 6500 - 10500/- equivalent to a gazetted officer. It is known to all that Mr. Pai has been a very close confidante of Mr. Subodh Kantak for many years and has even been seen driving the Advocate General’s official car over the last few years while being an employee at the CCP. Mr. Pai while working at CCP had been running errands for Mr. Subodh Kantak including walking the Advocate General’s fleet of dogs on the Bambolim hillock where Mr. Kantak resides With the exorbitant fees being paid to him, Mr. Subodh Kantak who is India's highest paid Advocate General is now further bleeding the State exchequer by appointing an unqualified Personal secretary on a very exorbitant pay scale.
