America has been adept at using foreign countries and issues to distract itself
and the world.  Now the latest issue brewing is Iran's nuclear program.

The Bush-Cheney administration spent the bulk of their eight years on Iraq and
North Korea instead of on the Mortgage bubble, Banking / Financial credit
swaps, and Wall Street gambling, in the good ol' USA. And this does not include
their failure to address the Health care crises, Medicare insolvency, etc. Our
government, politicians and press seem to expend a lot of our time, energy and
talent addressing other countries issues than solving our own problems.

Paying attention to our own house would have left us in a much better shape;
even if Saddam Hussein was alive today.  If we are in a meltdown today, it is
not because of Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden.  They could not have screwed
us, a tenth as much, as we screwed ourselves under the guise of fighting "them"
to uphold "the living standards of Americans."  The twin towers in New York
City destroyed by Bin Laden costs six billion dollars.  We are now ten trillion
dollars in the hole.

When will be stop using foreign countries and foreign issues as a distraction
to solve our own pressing problems?  This is nothing new.  We have done it
since World War II, calling it the Cold War, Communist threat, etc.

Regards, GL
