There are some conflicting reports in local news papers for the past one week regarding the transfer of LPG connections of Valpoi area from HP Gas to Indane. This press note is issued on behalf of HP Gas to clear the doubts among the LPG consumers of Valpoi area. Over the past many years HPCL distributor of Sanquelim has been supplying LPG cylinders to Valpoi area since there was no other distributor of other oil company earlier. Valpoi was to HPC distributor as an additional area, which is nearly 17 km from Sanquelim. As per the Oil Industry guidelines all LPG connections falling under the trading area of newly commissioned agency are to be transferred from the existing distributor and further supplies are to be provided by the new agency only.* *In view of the commissioning of their new agency at Valpoi, Indian Oil Corporation (is also a Govt. Oil Company) has been requesting HPCL to transfer all the connections of Valpoi to their new distributor M/s Satteri Indane as per the existing guidelines of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.** Accordingly, a meeting was called by Senior Regional Manager of HP Gas along with representatives of Valpoi Citizen Forum, Indane distributor and their Officer and HPC distributor. It was decided that HPCL will stop supplies with effect from 1st April’2009 and all future supplies will be given by Indane distributor of Valpoi. The procedure for the transfer of LPG connections from HP Gas to Indane is very simple. The consumer has to approach Indane distributor along with empty cylinders & regulator of HP gas and original documents. He will be issuing new Indane cylinders and Indane regulator without collecting any deposit amount. It will be the responsibility of the Indane distributor to transfer the connections from HP Gas to Indane and hand over a fresh Indane documents to all the consumers within 15 days. It is also important to understand that Indian Oil has been marketing LPG all over India and will be in a position to take care of full requirement of Valpoi area also through their distributor. The price of the LPG cylinder was higher when it is supplied thru HP distributor from Sanquelim in view of additional transportation (as per Civil Supplies guidelines also). The price of Indane cylinder for Valpoi customers is only Rs. 328.55, which is cheaper by nearly Rs. 23/-. Indane distributor will be supplying cylinders at this rate only and Home Delivery also will be given.
