Mr Patil informed that Naik was blackmailing the 22-year -old girl, with exposure of nude pictures taken of her. Police said that the victim did not inform anybody regarding the incidents and even attempted suicide by consuming poison, but luckily survived after treatment at Hospicio Hospital. She did not inform her parents about the incidents, police said. Police said that the case came to light when Naik was caught during the investigations of another case of a missing girl, reported a few days ago. 'The investigations disclosed that the missing girl mobile phone was with Mr Naik. So we called him during the interrogations,' Mr Patil said. 'We immediately seized his mobile and from it we found a mobile number that was dialed frequently. We called up the number and a girl attended to it and she informed that Naik used to call his neighbour on her number.' informed the police inspector. Mr Patil said that the girl filed a complaint and Naik was arrested. He further said that Naik was married, had a child and was unemployed. A case of rape is registered against Naik and police are investigating further. -------------------------------------- The Navhind Times 22/4/09 page 03 -------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- Another massage parlour raided for sex trade, 5 held ----------------------------------------------------- Mapusa police on Tuesday raided a massage parlour at Morod-Mapusa and detained five girls allegedly used in sex trade. Police has booked the owner of the parlour, Sucorine alias Caroline Fernandes of Moira under Section 4 and 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Act. The five girls, between the ages of 21 and 26 years, hail from Karwar, Manipur, Delhi and Bijapur. They have been sent to the remand home at Merces, after their statements were recorded in the presence of an NGO. According to Mapusa DySP Sammy Tavares, police received information of a sex racket operating in Mapusa and had maintained a close vigil on the massage parlour at Morod. Mapusa PI Manjunath Dessai had even dispatched two decoys to study and obtain first hand information about the sex racket. Police sources disclosed that the sex racket has been operating in Mapusa and other parts of Bardez for about a year, with full impunity from the men in uniform. DySP Tavares admitted that there could be more such parlours operating along the coastal belt. It may be recalled that a similar massage parlour had been raided in Porvorim some days ago.
