GULF-GOANS e-NEWSLETTER (since 1994)
The First 5 hours of polling in Goa today ! Dears, There is still a chance. Voting stops at 5.00 P.M. today. In the first 5 hours of polling in Goa today [07.00 A.M. to 12.00 noon], the best polling percentage was in Navelim constituency ...21 %. Most constituencies recorded 14 to 18 percent polling up to 12.00 noon. Forget about long queues, there were hardly any voters in Mapusa and Aldona constituencies this morning. Election fervour was conspicuous by its absence. Four students of Rural Development at the Xavier Institute of Social Service- Ranchi, who are doing their internship in Goa asked me. "Are elections so luke warm in Goa always?" We are supposed to be educated ...not merely literate ....but what do we do to show the difference. The advertisements on PRUDENT Media TV sponsored by WorldLink Comminications and Raj Housing in public interest seem to say it all ...the drunks, the lamanis and the so called illiterate are the ones who truly choose our leaders because we think we are too smart or too rich to care ...and then complain that the Government is going to the dogs! VOTE ....or stop whining like a stray dog! Mog asundi Miguel Miguel Braganza <miguelbraganza@ yahoo.co. in> ANOTHER EMAIL FEEDBACK FROM A VOTE FROM SOUTH GOA: Just come back after casting my vote. Not big queue. Voting could be as low as 40-45 % in my place.
