........................................................................ Goa Heritage Action Group releases PARMAL, the journal of the GHAG, on Apr 25, 2009 at 5.30 at Gallery Gitanjali, Fontainhas. Price Rs 200 in Goa.
........................................................................ Someone pray tell me...........its the 50th anniversary of the Goa Football Association and football is pretty much our religion, our being, our life (at least it used to). No mention in Piramal. And to the poster who invited us to the launch of the issue party....so tell us about the lanch party: were some upcountry folks in love with Goa likely going on about our past? Nice, and good for them. It pains me that at a Vasco-Dempo ONCG I-league game, there are about 500 people more or less (tickets at Fatorda are Rs 20 & 30, cost of a large beer is Rs 50). And the only noise comes from Merguliao (of late, he is injured, yes, colourful spectators are only human and get injured too). In the old days, the stadium would be full of live when Vasco met Dempo. Everyone looks bored these days(yes, the quality of football is at best tame affair) and the quality of football; never mind. That aside, the Football association has never heard of marketing but what can one say..... a colorful history for the game that occupied most of our lives should get better treatment and place on would think! The passion, the characters (both on the field and in the stands) and the dreams of every young man and women (the Goa women's team did us proud winning the Nationals before the men could). And how could we forget: Domnic, Nocholas, Catao, Benao? Its only Mergulao who carries the torch! Goan football has died, There are likely many pictures and audio recordings of the excited voice of Benao at the AIR archives........nothing. We should celebrate this won't you think?
