Jacint vaz used to act in the radio tiatrs during the portuguese rule in Goa.
Later after the liberation of Goa we would see him on the stage. The moment I
would see him I would go in laughter. Never missed a single tiatr when he was
acting. I never dreamt that I would meet this Jacint Vaz in person and that I
would be acting with him in some ofthe tiatrs. I got this opportunity while
acting in Fr.Freddy's tiatrs, and later Mike Mehta's tiatr. He and his wife
Mary were really simple people God created. Even though he was the charlie
chaplien or comedy king of the konkani stage and also a film actor he never
acted proud. While in his company he would put his hand around me and talk as
if we were equals. He had respect for priests and religious. We visited a
number oftimes his house in Mandur where he had a big building of his own and
had dinner with him. His favourite dish was bokeamchi xhakuti . He was a good
hunter and loved hunting boars and birds. His elder son Tony is a great
musician who has his repute in the film world. He is a good base guitarist.
