Dear Goarkars,([email protected],[email protected]) Years ago, my mother used to watch DOORDARSHAN programmes every evening and the messages that were constantly flashed on screen were :- (1) "hum Do Hamare Do" and (2) strict warning to get an annual cancer check-up.
My mother strictly followed the 2nd message and would go for her annual cancer check-up. Every year she would be invited for her cancer check-up, by the Centre for Cancer detection, vide post card and after nearly 10 annual check-ups, she was sent a 2nd post-card and requested to come for a follow-up immediately, after which she was told she had Cancer of the uterus and advised immediate surgical removal. The surgery was performed by Dr. Lusito D'Souza, followed by radiation. You will be happy to know, that my mother is now 70 years old, lives in a clean, green and healthy state like Goa and has been Cancer-free for the last 25 years, and, still goes for her annual cancer check-ups. ======================================= From: "Fr.
