Possibly what Fr Cedric Prakash meant is that as of now Narendra Modi is
persona non grata in the US and Europe. Should he become the PM without the
ban on his entry being revoked, he would become a lameduck PM and a pariah
in the world community.

Mario responds:

There is no consultative process between the West and India on who should run
for Prime Minister. This is a preposterous suggestion as India is a sovereign
democracy and can elect anyone they please. In my never humble opinion, the
BJP is holding themselves back from greater acceptance in India by the absurd
philosophy of their Hindutva wing.

The US and Europe have nothing personal against Narendra Modi. Narendra Modi
is being ostracized in the west because they have accepted the findings of
certain investigations into his involvement in the Godhra and other atrocities
against Muslims in Gujarat.

Now the Indian Supreme Court has ordered more exhaustive investigations into
Modi'a actions. These will be critical to Modi's personal and political
future. If they exonerate him, he will be accepted by the west and will soon
be in line to be PM of India. If they indict him, then he may end up in jail
for the rest of his life.
