2009/5/12 Mario Goveia <[email protected]> > Marlon is actually the leading candidate for the Goanet Hugo Chavez award.
Btw, could someone consider *me* for this contest, if Mario would be decent enough to institute such a priviledge? I quite admire this guy (or some of his actions), never mind what the Western media says, or his past... As George Fernandes once paraphrased someone, "Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future." Incidentally, Robert Mugabe is today considered the pariah of the 'international community'. We've seen the impact on the Zimbabwean economy etc [ http://www.flickr.com/photos/fn-goa/3313807919/in/set-72157614420422667/] But, in 1983, when he visited Goa for the CHOGM Retreat, he was indeed an amazing personality admired by many. Not without reason. Apartheid was still alive and kicking. Colonialism wasn't yet taken over by the let's-pretend-we-all-dislike-colonialism phase. Who knows who becomes the heroes and villians of history? But to make out Marlon to be a leftwinger is an aberation of cyber-history! FN
