I would like to make a small correction here. Goans in the UK are not Indians.
Indeed many of them have never been Indians. The vast majority came over from
East Africa, where they were British. The other section which have
predominantly settled in Swindon, became Portuguese nationals before they went
to the UK. So there is no question of making India or Indians proud. Miss
Elishma Fernandes has ofcourse made Goans very proud.
If you come across an East African UK Goan and you call him Indian, don't
expect to be invited over for dinner :-))
