Dear Joe, You are making an assumption, not only that Joe is a serial killer, but that his toll of killings has now increased to 10. This is based on a number of confessions obtained by the police while the suspect was in their custody. You must be aware that Mahanand has not yet been tried in a court of law and, despite what the police claim, he must be presumed to be innocent until a court of law accepts that he has been proven guilty. At this very moment, outraged villagers want to visit vengeance not only on suspect Mahanand but also on his wife, who has not even been accused of complicity thus far. We can have trial by the judiciary, or trial by the mob, but not both. I do not know whether or not Mahanand's confessions have been obtained under torture. If so, they would be highly suspect.
