Two persons including a Manipuri youth arrested in the case.
Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch sleuths raided the massage parlour and “rescued” three girls – one each from Manipur, Karnataka and Goa, sources said. The girls were later sent to the government-run remand home at Merces. The two persons arrested under Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA) include a 23-year old Manipuri who gave his name as Aaayen; the other person apprehended by the police is a middle-aged woman from Arpora. While the tourist season as far as foreign tourism is concerned, is virtually over, domestic tourists have been visiting Goa in a big way in the last two months or so, sources said. Some time ago, a case was registered against a massage parlour in Porvorim. The police suspect that there are many such much -publicised massage parlours where other activities including nefarious ones, are noticed. But when a raid on any parlour is reported, those indulging in rackets, are alerted and go underground or take a cautious approach to hoodwink the cops. Some parlours promote themselves through the Internet. -------------------------------------- HERALD 27/5/09 page 1 -------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- GOA CIVIC AND CONSUMER ACTION NETWORK ---------------------------------------------------------- promoting civic and consumer rights in Goa ---------------------------------------------------------- GOACAN Post Box 187 Margao, Goa 403 601 GOACAN Post Box 78 Mapusa, Goa 403 507 mailto: [email protected] ----------------------------------------------------------
