Voices from Heaven - Why I done it?
My name is Ritin I come from a village and lower middle class. I am the eldest and I started working at the age of 18. I am now 31 and not married yet nor I have a boyfriend. Like every body else, I too wished to settle down. But who will marry me when I am not so good looking nor financially well of? Sometimes, I felt I am well passed my marriageable age. All the neighbours’ girls. younger than me, got married and I am still waiting for my turn. Sometimes, while I am in the kitchen, I listen to the conversation between my neigbhours and my mom ‘Cheddvak kedna logn korta go?’ and the whole night for me is a sleepless night. I wished people never come to our house to give wedding invatiations as I knew a debate will start in the house comparing my age with that of the bride's. Suddenly, this 40 years old man come into my life. He says.. I miss you I love you And soon says.. You are the one I want to be with Will you marry me? I said to myself ‘Thanks God or Goddess for sending me an angle’ I said ‘yes, I will marry you’ Then he says ‘Tomorrow, tomorrow is the day to introduce you to my parents and family, make sure you dress well with all your jewelry’ Or he says.. ‘Well, let’s runaway and get marry. Let’s do it tomorrow. Come with all you have or borrow cash/jewelry’ He has won my heart, I too love to be with him, And I will do whatever he says. For me, he is a God sent angel. I said ‘let’s do it’ ( not knowing what’s in store for me..) Now, you may say ‘why I have done what I have done?’ Please, please put yourself into my shoe, and look around particularly the wicked society, the social stigma etc and find the answer for your self. Many may have blamed me for running away or doing things as told. I knew where exactly the shoe bite because I am the one who was wearing it. Believe me, I did it purely for marriage.
