With all the writings regarding the land holdings of the Catholic
Church going on, the question that comes to my mind is, How rich is the
Catholic Church? Is it in the top three or ten in the world? A few years ago
I read a report that said that it was in the top three ... Anyway,
something else which is more relevant than chart ratings are the words of
Jesus Christ who said 'It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a
needle than for a rich man to enter the gates of heaven.' When I reflect on
the words of Jesus Christ and read about the wealth of the Roman Catholic
Church, all I can conclude is, all priests and nuns are going straight to
hell! The Popes, no doubt, through the ages have lived in palatial luxury,
and nowadays while traveling around the world love to bend down and kiss the
ground in various countries to show how humble they are! I am sure billions
of people would also love to do so if only they too could enjoy his standard
of living. Is this what religion and spirituality are all about?
I do not want to criticize only the Popes as the problem does arise
with Jesus Christ, doesn't it? What is so evil about being rich per se? I
know several good human beings who have worked hard and have become
successful and rich! Are they banned from heaven? Jesus Christ sounds like a
left-wing radical and can even be said to be the Father of Communism.
Whatever the case, one thing is clear: Jesus Christ and Churchianity are at
loggerheads!
