It's raining cats and dogs since Saturday in our part of Goa. With the full-moon on today, the weather disturbance is obvious. Does anyone know more about the beliefs between the phases of the moon and the weather in the Goa of the past? Agriculturists often refer to this, and even plan their planting season going by this calendar.
Likewise, there is the Catholic/Hindu Mirg (start of the monsoon season) around June 5/7. I'm more skeptical of this, as the Gregorian calendar which we follow has little to do with the monsoons (except that it starts around June each year, but could be late or early for still -- AFAIK -- inadequately explained reasons). Global warmng alone can't explain all, I guess. I'm no expert, so looking to what the others have to say.
