Hot water Spring It was only after I read Shri Shrikant Barve’s email ‘ Rajapur Ganga Arrived’ we decided to visit Rajapur.
This spring is really amazing. It’ hot water spring – 365 days a year. I could see the steam or smoke from the ladies bathing side It was not just warm but HOT at which temperature I take my morning tea. No one seems to know it’s source. It’s really amazing! There is a river flowing very next to it. River ‘Arjun’ Many believes that the hot spring water has medicinal values that can cure many skin diseases. By drinking the water, they say, it can bring back the lost appetite. It’s only 2 or 3 Kms from Rajapur NH 17. One can go there via Panjim Mapusa, Swantwaadi, Kudal, Kankavli, Rajapur etc All on NH 17. All Goa-Bombay buses follow the same route. It’s about 170 kms from Panjim or about 110kms from Sawantwadi Or about 60 kms from Kankavli One can go there by train too. >From Karmali Stn to Rajapur Road 2005kms. Fare Rs.55 but one will need to take a rickshaw Rs.200 to go to the Rajapur which is about 16 kms from the station. Madgao-Diva, Konkan Kanya & Mandovi Express trains stop here. About 2.5 hours journey. Karmali-Tivim- Pernem-Sawantwadi Road-Kudal- Sindudhurg-Kankavli-Vaibawadi Road-Rajapur Road-Adavali-Ratnagiri…. Alternately, ST bus leaves Panjim and 7 and 8.45am fare around Rs.110 and time taken about 5 hours. Or take a bus to Sawantwadi and from there take bus to Rajapur (Rs.76). Panjim-Sawantwadi 60 kms Rs.33 >From Panjim, one can reach there in 4 hrs by a pvt/hired. vehicle Lodging available at Rajapur city or on highway 17. Budget type accommodation. Tariff ranges 200-350 per room/night No A/c no TV. next, Rajapur Ganga where 14 tanks get filled with water only once in 3 years all other times the tanks are dry.
