My last reply to Mr. S. M. Borges
Thank You Mr. Borges, Good Night! After going through S. M. Borges's letter (GT June 26) I am convinced of the fact that Mr. S. M. Borges is afraid of having a face to face debate. That pleases me because he has no guts to face the truth. I am also convinced that if the debate is held all his lies and manipulations will be exposed once and for all and the truth about Konkani in Roman script will prevail. This also means that he will have no moral right to go ahead with his anti - Konkani in Roman script tirade any more. And under no circumstances he wishes to end his anti-Konkani in Roman script tirade so abruptly. In his above referred letter he has stated two more lies. He says I have promised to answer his questions which is a lie because I proposed to have a debate so that his questions are answered by me and my questions by him. If so where is the question of promising to answer his questions here? The other lie he has stated is that I had accused Uday Bhembre for communal writings. Once again it is a manipulation! Yes I did argue with Uday Bhembre but not on communal writings. I regret to state that the minds which are infested with communalism consider anything and everything on communal lines. We live in the 21st century. Today all issues are clarified and solved through talks, discussions and debate. India and Pakistan have even agreed to sit together and to discuss, clarify and if possible solve the most critical issue of Kashmir. Today the world over debate/discussion/talk is considered the only solution to get the mind-set cleared of misinformation and misunderstandings. And in this era, here is my friend Mr. Borges who does not consider a debate useful to clarify his as well as my stand on Konkani in Roman script. Mr. Borges may go to any extent to destroy Konkani in Roman script. We do not mind at all because the movement for the promotion and for acquiring equal status to Konkani in Roman script along with Devnagori script started by DKA and other organizations will never stop. In fact this movement has compelled the government to recognize the importance of Konkani in Roman script and hence DKA has been granted financial assistance, Tiatr Academy of Goa has been formed, Ravindra Bhavan's main auditorium is named after Joao Agostinho Fernandes, literary awards stopped for Konkani in Roman script have been re-started by Kala Akademy, Goa Konkani Akademy, for the first time, has a Vice-President other than the protagonist of Devnagori script alone, etc, etc. Remaining demands of DKA will also be met at the appropriate time. All this is a matter of serious concern to Mr. Borges. Therefore my proposal for a debate still exists. As per Mr. Borges's wishes we will have it at any time as per his convenience. In spite of all this, if Mr. Borges has no courage to face the truth then his ill intentions towards Konkani in Roman script are clear. Hence I say in conclusion, "Thank you Mr. Borges, Good Night!"
