Two govt officials suspended
Reference to the article "Two govt officials suspended, HERALD CORRESPONDENT PERNEM, JUNE 30" of 1st July, I am not sure how many Goans are impressed by the prompt action of the Pernem Deputy Collector, not that they should not be dealt with, these guys should not just be suspended but put behind bars, but while digesting the overall situation in Goa, I feel there will never be a Land Scam or any other scam for that matter without the presence of our elite Ministers or MLA's and that's a guarantee, these poor shrimps are made scapegoats while a herd of whales goes unnoticed, gulping whatever comes their way in the ocean called Goa. There is a saying in English "stopping the ant and letting the elephant pass by" will not help solve the problem, get at the root of this gigantic anomaly that's corroding Goa of it's beauty, charm, tranquility and solitude. I ask the Collectors and the Deputy Collectors, what happened to the two land scams in Canacona ? In one case two Ministers were involved in forging a dead man's finger impression on a land sale deed in a presence of a Judge, the judge was suspended, but how come the two minister are still in the cabinet or even in the Vidhan Sabha ? In the second instance, the Cabo-de-Rama plateau scam where, an ex Sarpanch, his brother a very reputed criminal lawyer turned real estate agent (letting petty criminals go scot-free surely does not pay as much as illegal land deals), an Ex Minister and a couple of ministers in the present Government were involved, in selling cumuldade land to a five star consortium. Adjacent to the Cabo-de-Rama plateau there is a very beautiful beach called Ragbagh, there have been a lot of Bollywood films shot at this location, the property next to the beach is a private property. These comrades in crime sold the cumuldade land along with the private property on the beach to a five star consortium in 2005, as per the news more than 7-crores where distributed among the elite. The land records at the cumaldade and at the survey office were distorted, so all proof of being cumuldade land was destroyed, but fortunately there was one man by the name of Floriano Fernandes from Cabo-de-Rama who managed to dig out an old Portuguese Gazette, where in it was mentioned that the said land with the exact area was cumuldade land and with the help of an NGO filed a case and won it, the court ordered the land survey department to revert the said land to cumuldade land on the survey records and declared the sale deed null n void, but after palming all that cash can they rest ? No, they appealed to the higher court and the same saga continues, Mr. Floraino was asked to name his price by the Ex MLA, but he did not budge, the gate installed barring people's excess to the beach and their properties was broken down along with the illegal structure in it, when the Ex MLA was taken to task by the locals during a meeting at the site and I was present on that fateful day, to take the EX MLA to the cleaners in front of the public. I would like to request all the Authorities to go after all the people involved in the land scams, not jut the shrimps but the big fish as well, never mind the turbulence or the waves it may cause and rock your boats in rough weather, but still, hold on and don't let them get away. That will indeed impress a lot more Goans.
