PRESS RELEASE
Christians Strongly Oppose Judgement on Gay Relations
“Judgement is Satanic Verses”
New Delhi, Saturday 11 July 2009 :  Recently pounced judgment by the Delhi High
court  on gay relations via a via IPC 377  has sent shock waves among  the
Christians in India  and this minority  community feels ashamed that  a section
of  priests  in Delhi are supporting the judgment. The Poor Christians
Liberation Movement (PCLM) condemns the judgment and calls for a boycott of
such priests who support such move as this sinful practice is against the
teaching of the Bible and humanity.
In a statement issued today Mr. R.L. Francis, president of PCLM stated that
perhaps the Diocese of Delhi has forgetton the classical incident narrated in
the Bible that God destroyed cities of ‘Sodom and Gomorra’ for this sinful
activities.” So it is surprising that the church leadership is supporting this
judgment”. The PCLM hails the stand taken by the protestant churches against
this judgement.
Several Christian leaders have expressed their shock over the judgment. In an
interview to PCLM Joseph Gathia, well known child’s rights activist, said that
any dilution of IPC 377 would open flood gates for the sexual exploitation of
children. “Let us not forget what happened in Thailand 20 years back. This
judgment is satanic verses and would pave way for making India as world centre
of gay sex trade”, Mr. Gathia stated further.
The PCLM urges Christian intellectuals and laity leaders to come forward and
defend the teaching of the Bible and oppose any legalization of gay relations.
R.L.Francis
President - PCLM
