Narvekar alleges Goa soaked in corruption
HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, JULY 22
Former finance minister Dayanand Narvekar Wednesday alleged that corruption in
the State administration has reached such a level that no work could be done
without any ‘consideration’.
“The level has reached where no work can be done without paying bribe,”
Narvekar said adding “Even if a person has all the permission from the
panchayats and the construction is complete, he cannot pay infrastructure tax
without paying a BDO”, he said  during a discussion on demands for grants to
general administration, public grievances, etc.
“BDOs are demanding money to issue a simple challan on payment of
infrastructure tax. This is a sorry state of (affairs in the) administration,”
he said adding, “This attitude is not good for the State, the Aldona MLA
alleged.
Claiming that development works are being blocked by the authorities, Narvekar
said, “applications for the NOCs of Socorro panchayat hall, Aldona Bus Stand
and Salvador da Munde panchayats are pending for long.”
“If this is what they do to an MLA, what will be the state of the common man?”
he asked.
Speaking on the TCP department, Narvekar said that it is causing irreparable
damage to villages.
“In some villages, the last stretches of land are being converted,” he said.
Conversion fee: Narvekar claimed his recommendation for higher conversion fees,
made in the 2008-09 Budget was implemented only after 15 months.

Comment : Now that Narvekar has become Valmiki from Daku.  Did he receive this
enlightenment  only after being kicked out from ministership ? For almost two
decades he was also part of this corrupt gang of Congress politicians. And
infect he was the most corrupt element among them. Has he been absolved from
ticket gate ?  When thieves preaches on honesty it sounds very gauche . It is
vey pitiable that after liberation of Goa none of the politicians are convicted
for crime in  corruption!  It was even more unfortunate that  BJP leader
Manohar Parrikar who has no taint of  corruption  could not try such
politicians in his tenure as CM for  over 4 years. He even had praised Narvekar
once to have presented best Finance Budget.
