Herald Reporter, Panjim, July 27 (Pg 3 report) Did I see right? On second take, what escaped my throat is a huge PooH BaH. Some one has the eye on all the dough/crores that will be earmarked for this world class development... to pocket the hefty commissions..... for the end result of the developmental works falling apart at the very seams within a year or even during the construction stages, a clear example being the Delhi Metro where not only a horizontal span did a toppling act suffocating the capital city but also some 18 other pillars cracked to show substandard work, as per the latest news reports and where the Delhi Metro Chief E. Sreedharan, instead of being 'castrated' merely gets away with tendering his resignation and withdrawing it back, a well known policy of live and let live, but instead the scape goat Director Vijay Anand gets the sack. If I am not mistaken, all our MLAs and Ministers, irrespective of whether they are from the ruling or opposition side, must be watering in their mouths today to read this particular news item. But it will be unfortunate for Goa if these rascals are allowed to plan for Goa. If they are, then Goans can expect not even the borrowed uniforms of the Singapore police, but rather expect to forfeit even their 'kastis' for a good measure. Sure, Goa has the potential to be the world state. But not with these political rascals hanging around with their mouths watering for commissions. We must respect what Pai Panandiker has done, denied himself a plum post on the planning commission to express these same vital sentiments. If at all, Goa will have to see the following headlines in the newspapers, along with the clamour on the cable TV channels like it was on Monday, April 20, 1998, announcing that Lt Gen Jacob (retd) takes over as new Goa Governor, with a 5 or 10 year slap of Presidential Rule on Goa and dismissing every one of the 40 chors from the den of Ali Baba at Porvorim, Goa. Then and only then we Goans can expect Goa to be on the track of becoming the world state in 5 years. Sd/- Floriano Lobo Gen. Secretary/Spokesperson Goa Su-Raj Party 9890470896
