Panjim Table Tennis Club (PTTC), backed by Industrialist Samir Salgaocar, emerged Champions by quelling the spirited challenge of defending Champions BPS Club Margao, winning 3-2 in a close and pulsating encounter. The first three matches went as per script with Diljeet Velingkar (BPS) beating Agnelo Naik 11- 8, 11-3, 14-11, Noel Noronha (PTTC) defeating Amit Naik 11-8, 11-4, 11- 9; and Ajit Ghantker (PTTC) brushing aside Arun Naik 11- 7 , 11- 4, 11- 6. In the clash of the titans, Goa’s premier paddler Diljeet Velingker (BPS) upstaged former champion Noel Noronha 11- 6 , 11- 8 and 11- 9 to level the scores at 2-2. The final rubber was an edge-of-the seat thriller. In the see-saw battle which saw fortunes fluctuating after every set, Agnelo Naik (PTTC) fighting from 2 sets to one down and two match points down in the decider, held on to his nerves in the closing stages to win 16- 14, 9 - 11, 4-11, 11- 8 and 14- 12, thereby sealing the title for Panjim Table Tennis Club. Chief Guest Shri Hithvardhan Mittal, Director Goa Ispat Ltd(Mittal Group) distributed the prizes in the presence of Guest of Honour Sanjeev Mathiyan, Aditya Tarcar and Suresh Karapurkar.
