It appears that the CM announced this without any deliberations with stakeholders! This definition is fine for bigger states like Maharashtra and Karnataka! Considering its small size and the prevailing conditions in Goa, the government should have engaged in deliberations to tailor the definition of mega projects to the ground reality here, instead of resorting to a cut-and-paste job. This is yet another live example of how our Goa government is acting for the interest of builders and the mining lobby. They talk about people’s participation in decision-making but always finalise what suits their own interests, despite heavy protests from the aam aadmi. That is why Dr Oscar Rebello resigned from the RP 2021 Task Force, while Edgar Ribeiro resigned recently. Please also see below: 1.
