Besides Gurunath Kelekar's MARG, I came across another similar organisation in
Panjim (Altinho) sometime in 2004, run by ex-Police chief Prabakar Sinari,
which if I understood himn correctly then, was given the responsibility of
educating the Kadamba bus drivers in addition to other objectives.

How successful these organisations have been can only be gauged by the number
of accidents in the state...

Does anyone bother keeping statistics? Sometime in the past I had remarked to
Valmiki F regarding publishing daily stats in the editorial page of the local
dailies, something in the form of "Road Toll: Year to date: xxx; This time last
year: yyy". This sort of indicator would go a long way, I think, not only to
question the local government and the NGOs regarding the education levels of
road use, but also serve as an indicator to road users that they are not
invulnerable.

Gabriel.

Subject: [Goanet] Gurunath Kelekar: MARG - Years of Dedicated Service

I am sure the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, who over the years has
lauded the work being done by MARG, will let the MLA know that it was he
that had requested MARG to take up the responsibility of educating the road
users, which is being done with total dedication by the trustees of MARG.

GURUNATH KELEKAR, Margao
