This is indeed a sad news for Gulf Goans and the Goans who are
overseas...this message
and previous messages on Housing Projects clearly says..if you are a Goan
and you dont have
a house in Goa...you are not welcome...cause the housing projects looks like
as if they
are meant for migrants...but what about the gulfies and overseas Goans who
want them for their purpose?
Now why I say sad news for Gulf Goans is because...(I might be opening a can
of worms)
the Gulfies will no longer be able to invest in these housing projects if
there is too much of opposition
from local Goans. I know atleast 5 friends..gulfies and some of them on
goanet too..who are
the owners of 1-2 flats in these housing projects which are in the range of
10-25 lakhs..and
they will only sell it as and when they get the best offer..irrespective if
the buyer is Goan or bhailo.
Ami kitem pixe:? business korpak noko? (you think we are crazy and dont know
how to do business)
Gulfies are heavily involved in these investments of housing which is
ranging between 20-40 lakhs.
If you want proof...just see how many real Estate n builders are there on
the net and who ask them
from where most of the enquires come.
Next comes the Mumbaikars, who after long time being cheated by family
members of their
share in the ancestral homes, they not only purchased flats in these project
for themselves but also
purchased a flat or two as investment.
Well, I am also a Gulfie and I have also purchased a home in Goa, not as an
investment but
to use it as holiday home and have no intention to sell it to anyone. I had
to buy this since our ancestral house
is in dispute with family members. Also in chinchinim and in my vaddo there
is no place left...
almost everyone has built a house and now only the fields are left.
Similarly a friend of mine in Saudi has 4 children and two of them are
working in Goa and two in the Gulf.
He has no property beside the old house, he had suggested his children to
break the old house and build a
4 storey building for all of them, but they cant afford it, and none of them
want to stay close...they wud prefer
to stay in a cheap flat for a few lakhs far away from the relatives.
Being born and brought up in Goa, I know the difficulties the locals face,
this is not new. That time
we had problems when gulfies used to spoil the market...the fish prices
etc...now we have the Migrants.
There should be some limitations to opposition...if you oppose
constructions...oppose all constructions...even 10 flats
constructions...why oppose above 10 and 50?....I have a feeling some of
these local opposition is hand
in gloves with the builders, till their mouth is shut...then there is no
noise...the builders know from where
to recover their profits.
And pls for godsake stop blaming the Migrants & Govt. for every mess which
is in Goa...Me and you are
the first to be blamed for the mess...how many of us and our families in Goa
will vote for Florian
when there are elections?

*The government is confusing the people with the definition of mega housing
projects. Keep aside the terminology; Goans are rightly opposing housing
projects ranging anywhere between 10 and 50 housing units and more,
depending on the situation. This opposition is for the simple reason that
the government cannot meet the needs of existing Goans in terms of waste
management, traffic management, water supply, electricity, drainage, health,
security, employment, price rise, impacts of migration, environmental
protection, protection of our beautiful villages, etc. These small or big
housing projects are only increasing these problems. These housing
facilities, being out of reach for a majority of Goans, are a perfect
invitation for migrants.
