Lawmakers or lawbreakers?
In this democratic country of India, we hold Assembly elections in each
state to elect a people representative so that he can represent the
particular constituency of the particular state as a Member of Legislative
Assembly. He has to keep his constituents who have elected him & people of
that State in general above everything. On the prerogative of the Chief
Minister, the most influential gets the cabinet berth no matter what
qualification he posses. In this country we call them Law Makers. But what
we hear these days in our tiny state of Goa is that, the Law Makers have
become Law Breakers. Issues like using abusive language & slapping of bus
drivers, traffic police & guards doing their official duties by our
Ministers have become common these days. What our Ministers think is that
they are above the law. After so many incidents by our Ministers, no action
of dropping him from the cabinet by the Chief Minister or disciplinary
action by the party may it National Party or Regional Party for which he is
affiliated is taken. At least suspension till the investigation & until he
is proved innocent would have been more precise. We should treat them as
ordinary citizens of India with uniform law to all. Our Law Makers uses
all unethical means to help their near & dear one. What example our
Ministers are giving for our young generation i.e. our future leaders? To
whom our young generation is going to emulate as their leaders? They should
make them available or present in the court for judicial inquiry & police
stations for custodial inquiry if any. There should be a uniformity in the
law may it be Minister or ordinary citizen. There is a saying that you are
guilty till you proved innocent by the court of law. There is still time to
change your past and can become a good example for our young generation by
you kind deeds & you will be remembered forever.
