Whenever there is money to be made by politicians, which is 365 days in every year, newer schemes surface. Let us go back in time and cast a glance at the innovative money making rackets that have been responsible for Goa's downfall and Politician's all time highs.

As far back as I can remember, there was the Miramar Beach Privatization scheme which was shot down by conscious citizens. And I was one of those conscious citizens who deposed before Manohar Parrikar's blue eyed boy Shri Nandkumar Kamat set up as his one man commission. Manohar Parrikar pinned all hopes on his blue eyed boy to wrangle this out for him by giving people a supposedly unbiased 'know all' person as the one man commission. His decision would be final, meaning to hell with democracy. When I deposed before this upstart of a one man commission, which was being video taped, I questioned him on all aspects of 'what is a beach' and 'what is privatisation'. And then I exploded the ultimate bomb. I called it the 'money making racket' of its worst kind and that it must be scrapped at all costs. Nandkumar Kamat was jolted by that statement warranting him to tell the video guy to erase my comment. I challenged him to do that and I had left.

As a follow up, never to give up, a mock meeting was organized at the Rotary Club, Panjim. There, I was again given a God sent opportunity to speak from the dais which they should not have, given my stand on the issue. When I questioned Mrs. Rina Ray, the then Development Commissioner whose services were roped in to influence gullible Goans, I started by questioning her if she new what is a river-front (Mumbai's Otter's Club on which she was harping) and what is a sea beach. She had no answers. I had left the dais repeating my ditto statement that 'this was a money making racket' and must be scrapped. Nandkumar, JC Almeida (Chairperson) were present. As I was walking back to my seat, Mrs. Rina Ray announced to me to expect the Lawyer's notice for defaming the good name of the Government. I had turned back to to say ' make my day, maam'. There was no Lawyer's notice, no Mrs. Rina Ray and no Privatization of the Miramar Beach. In the bargain, the Judas who would sell the Miramar beach to the highest bidder got accolades for giving his verdict against it's privatization and the day was saved for the much touted 'internet scientist'

After this, there has been many such attempts like the IFFI where the BJP made money on the lost out Miramar Beach Privatization. There was INOX, the Kala Academy renovation, the Corjuem cable stayed bridge etc.

There was the EDC's One time Settlement which brought in suitcases of currency to the BJP even at the cost of breaking the backs of those blue-eyed boys of the RSS-BJP who were actually handling Goa's Industrial Management and who carried them to the Nova Goa New Office.

And the Congress, which was left out of the booty came up with the IT Parks and IT Habitats, the RP-2011, The MOPA Airport, the GMC upgradation, and now the latest HSRPs. I have missed-out on a lot more other schemes for want of space.

If only these rear-ends would understand the psyche of the Goan People, they would leave them alone and sit with the books to do the home-work which they have never attempted to even look at.

The Goa Su-Raj Party has officially, for the first time, voiced its strongest of objections on this HSRP affair, today, at the TB Cunha Hall, Panjim where the well attended All Goa Transporter's meet was held in the morning.

Cheers
