Mario responds: Vivian, I'm glad you asked your rhetorical question because it draws attention to how far back India currently is from being a "world power" as far as the broader issues of development are concerned. In spite of all the advances and progress since Manmohan Singh and a few others succeeded in dumping most of socialism on the trash heap of history where it belongs, anyone who has visited even the second-world countries in western Europe will see how much ground India has to make up, even though western Europe hardly qualifies as a "world power" any more.
