Living in the Washington DC area at the time, my Secretary asked me to turn on my TV to watch the news. At first we thought a small plane had accidentally hit one of the Twin Towers. Then we watched live in abject horror as a Passenger Airliner crashed into the second tower and it dawned on us that this was no accident, which was quickly confirmed by the Newscasters. Then we heard about a Passenger Airliner crashing into the Pentagon which was about a 20 minute drive from my office. There was panic and rumors abound. Fighter jets were screeching across the skies. The President had been whisked away by the Secret Service on to Air Force One, and was being flown to an unknown destination. This is a day that will live on in Infamy, similar to the way the Pearl Harbor attack and the Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are remembered.
