Mr. Menin Rodrigues' article contains a wealth of information about Goans in Karachi, and is obviously the result of painstaking research. I would just like to see a couple of points clarified. The music for the Gilbert and Sullivan (not O'Sullivan!) operettas he mentions---The Mikado, Gondoliers, Trial by Jury, Pirates of Penzance---was all written by Sir Arthur Sullivan. Yet Mr. Rodrigues attributes the music to J. Vincent and Charlie Lobo, and Prof. Terence D'Souza. Did they really compose new music for these famously sparkling operettas? If they really wrote new music, do the scores exist? If they do, and they are good, perhaps the operettas can be staged again, this time in Goa and even in Mumbai. But it seems more likely that Messrs. Lobo and D'Souza rearranged what Sir Arthur had written, to fit the musicians they had on hand in Karachi. Of course, even if they merely rearranged the music, they deserve credit for having the skill and the diligence to have done so. Regards to all, Victor Rangel-Ribeiro
