I was really happy to read all the pages pertaining Goan Clubs where in I spent my school days in Bombay. I first went to Sonapur Church school then Little Flower and last year in St Sebastian school in Dabul my second High school in English -( First in Portuguese in Carmona and Margao.) I still remember, because of the noise in the Club, we used to gather at St Sebastian during night time to study for SSC. Bishop Mascarenhas who was principal then, allowed us students from Little Flower School -after student strike there. My second language was Latin and for that particular year, Bishop M. could not set Latin subject paper for SSC. as he was our principal at St S., first year. All those years, seven I think, I studied in the club. Members were very proud of me. However,in the evenings I went to Dabul school to study. My SSC exam also was memorable. As I had chicken pox a week before the exam to be held at Elphiston College, After first day, I was sent to Infectious Hospital where I completed my exam inspite of headaches. So these clubs which are still going on was my history too. All sea-men went to work on ships from there. Out of 60/70 regulars at the club we had only about six to eight who worked as white collar workers majority were sea-men and rest of them worked as electricians like my brother and mechanics etc. Like me, there must be so many others who experienced these clubs I am still very proud of the assistance they gave me till I went to Africa to work for Standard Bank and the rest of my history in New York and now retired in Arizona.
