I would like a debate on what, who is a true, real Goan. and why is it
fashionable,
among "learned" "Goans" to castigate the catholic teachings?. anthony. (

Mario observes:

Anthony,

I'm trying to figure out whether your request to define a "true, real Goan" was
prompted by the warning that adultery is a crime.  By the way, is it really a
"crime" as defined by criminal statutes?

Since you would like a debate on these issues, may I suggest you get the ball
rolling by telling us a) what you think is a "true, real Goan", b) why you
think "learned" Goans are castigating Catholic teachings, and c) if that is the
case, why you think they are either "learned" or why you think they are doing
so.

Since there are many "learned" Goans who do not castigate Catholic teachings,
maybe the ones that do are simply misguided morons:-))

I have never found anything to castigate in Catholic teachings about day-to-day
behavior, i.e. the Golden Rule, the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the
Mount, while I have been a vocal critic of the behavior of the small percentage
of Catholic priests who were found to be abusing kids and nuns.  On the other
hand I have been a strong supporter of the vast majority of priests and nuns
who have given up a normal life on behalf of others less fortunate.

The "mysteries" of the Church baffle me just like any mystery that
is scientifically incredible to me as a mere human, and I find much to
castigate about what I see as cushy life-styles among many "Princes" of the
Catholic Church, who live large on the donations of hard working Catholics
worldwide, while often demeaning them as with the recent Encyclical by the
Gucci wearing Pope Benny and his critique of outsourcing, which is economically
indefensible in my never-humble opinion.

I have never heard a credible explanation of how we Catholics got from the
manger in Bethlehem, and the plebian sandal-wearing lifestyle of our founder,
to the regal palaces of the Vatican and our Gucci-wearing current Pope.

I wrote to him once offering him a perfectly good pair of shoes from Dharavi,
if he would let me sell his Gucci shoes on E-bay and donate the proceeds to the
poor, but I never heard back from him:-))
