PANAJI: In an effort to curb huge revenue losses due to non-functioning of water meters, the government has approved a proposal to replace all the water meters with better quality ones over a period of next 24 months. The Government of the day is doing a fabulous job on getting new meters so as to enable it curb the huge revenue loss that it claims which is so true, but the loss in revenue is the cause of the Department itself. There are frequent pipe lines bursting and no one gives a damn to fix it..so many illegal connections given to constructions sites for a bribe... The government wants to make every effort to get in as much as revenue as possible , but has any consideration been made to the common men who doesn't get water for days together when he needs it the most, has any consideration been taken into account when the major flow of water is diverted to the so called BIG 5 STAR hotels at the cost of the common men... May I take this opportunity to ask the same Government who is keen to get the High Quality meters installed to earn the maximum revenue what measures they have taken to ensure the common men gets an un interupted supply of water the whole year through????
