Rane condoles H. Britton’s death
Herald News Desk
Panjim, Sept 30
Chairman of Kala Academy Pratapsingh Rane has expressed deep grief over the sad
demise of renowned Tiatr artiste H. Britton.
“As a versatile artiste of Tiatr stage, late H. Britton has contributed
immensely for the
development and propagation of Tiatr. His acting of female role as well as a
comedian
and singer provided a great stimulus to Tiatr. Due to his demise, Goa has lost
an all-
rounder personality from the Tiatr stage,” said Pratapsingh Rane in his
condolence
message.

Unassuming H. Britton

Konkani tiatr is passing through a critical period with the demise of some good
tiatr
personalities. With the passing away of M. Boyer and Lucas Fernandes, a void
has been
left in Konkani tiatr that can never be filled, as was the case with the demise
of singers
like Tony Carr, Tony Call, Luis Martin, Baby Tony.
A few days ago, another multi-talented personality of Konkani stage, H.
Britton, left the
world. His contribution to the Konkani stage is not only immense, but unique.
In spite of
serving the stage for over 40 years, he has never used titles like ‘King of
Melody’ or
‘New King’, unlike a few singers who do self-publicity. May his soul rest in
peace.
