Fred, That 'Umlo' or 'Humlo' is the big Red ant, that used to bite/sting. There were 2 species -- one Red and the other black. Apparently, the black one did not bite. The Red 'humley' used to be found mostly on trunks of coconut trees. We used to always dread the red ants. In general, the black ant (mui) did not bite/sting whereas the red one was deadly.
