Making your 'dream wedding' possible

------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has become the fashion in certain vested interest quarters to mourn
that citizens say No to every development project. NGOs working at risk to
their own health, spending their own precious time and money because they, as
Remo says "CRY FOR GOA", are bad mouthed and scorned I cannot understand how a
project of this magnitude is going full steam ahead (Bridge longer and costlier
than the Bandra -Worli sea link) or underground Tunnel link, without prior
serious public debate by this proclaimed aam admi government. This is being
contemplated with perhaps lucrative "business as usual" thinking,
involving mega funds and estimate over runs in this age of recession. There has
been no knowledgeable feasibility study before expensive consultants called in.
The Kosambi lectures experts on town planning opined that underground tunnels
age is over due to the prohibitive costs involved today!  Not to mention
maintenance and Tolls! Planning cannot
be merely paper economics of leading to  more best State awards ! The Canacona
floods, October monsoons, changes in river flow and sea tides, topography,
displacement/transport of people and how it will effect their lives and other
denizens of land and sea, flora and fauna living here, colossal irreversible
damages, have not taught our Rulers ( They are not here to Serve) any lessons!
Dr Nandkumar Kamat rightly put it as "Goa hemorrhaging".  Not to mention
aircraft and vehicle density that may soon put  normal transport in the
doldrums due pollution, traffic jams and high costs! Ten- twenty years down the
line, future transport may not even require bridges. River Princess, Sonsodo
garbage and  suchlike problems, unsatisfactory  sanitation handling in
general, heavy rains but no water in taps, pot holed roads, deficient public
health centres in villages, reliable power supply, education and
such priorities are comparatively neglected/on the
 back burner!.
