Planning to get married in Goa? www.weddingsetcgoa.com Making your 'dream wedding' possible ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mario Goveia wrote: > You must have missed the following report from your favorite news source > in old Blighty, so, as the lone voice of reason, truth and peace on > Goanet, I thought I would bring it to your attention. > > http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8299079.stm Date: Tue, 13 Oct 2009 18:43:49 +0100 From: Gabe Menezes <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Goanet] Looking for Volunteers for on 24th OCT That was from M Goveia, who swore blind that he did not read the Beeb, Al Jazeera, the Guardian and the Times of London! Mario responds: As usual, Gabe does not understand much is what is written on Goanet. I do not "follow" these sites. However, since even a broken clock tells the correct time twice a day, when some specific report is brought to my attention by someone else, I read it, and may comment on it after I corroborate the information from other sources. I cited a BBC report because Gabe lives in Blighty, the BBC is like the Word of God in Blighty, and he should have seen the report, which has information that has been corroborated by other sources. Apparently, since Gabe has not referenced anything written in the BBC report, it looks like he would like this report swept under the rug. Gabe wrote: So much for the sole voice of truth -- more like the embellished word; Air India and the Hostesses arriving from S'pore in the 'sixties'. Mario responds: I think Gabe does not like my being the lone voice on Goanet of reason, truth and peace, probably because I often expose falsehoods and illogical thinking, like I have done again below. For quite some time now Gabe has been insisting that Air India did not provide service from Singapore to Mumbai in the mid sixties. He started this nonsense in responding to an anecdote I wrote about meeting Louis Armstrong in Mumbai in 1964 after he flew to Mumbai from Singapore on Air India and played at a concert in Mumbai. I was invited to the show by an Air India stewardess who flew in with the band from Singapore and we were guests of Mr. Armstrong, which was a very unique and cool experience. The problem is that Gabe's information is false and his mean spirited allegations that I made this up is therefore a bald faced falsehood. Gabe did not even live in Singapore in the mid-sixties. I am not accusing him of prevaricating about this issue, just of willful ignorance of the situation based on bogus memory and faulty information. Back in August he posted the following: Date: Tue, 11 Aug 2009 08:16:24 +0100 From: Gabe Menezes <[email protected]> Here is Air India's time line 1961 - 1970:- http://home.airindia.in/SBCMS/Webpages/Time-line-1961-1970.aspx?MID=196 This flight was still in operation when I was in Singapore from 1978 onwards but run by Indian Airlines. Air India did not operate in Singapore at that time. Here is my response: Gabe, once and for all, you don't have any idea what you are talking about. Just like the issue of interest rates in the 80's you make bogus allegations based on faulty facts that you cannot prove. You were initially disputing information about Air India flights from Singapore in 1964. Now you are telling us you were not there until 1978, fourteen years later, and the flights were run by Indian Airlines, and that Air India did not operate in Singapore at that time. Please pay attention to the following series of FACTS, based on which you should apologize for your repeated bogus and mean-spirited allegations that I made up the incident. 1. In the history of Air India, Wikipedia tells us that Air India operated in Singapore since 1954: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_India 2. The Air India timeline you posted also showed Air India operating in Singapore in the sixties. 3. If "...Air India did not operate in Singapore at that time.", how do you explain the following references in The Straits Times? a) An article in The Straits Times, dated 28 November 1964 [Off to Bombay], stated that Mr. J.L. de Cruz left Singapore by Air India to attend the International Euchariatic Congress in Bombay. b) The Straits Times, 9 December 1966, Page 17 Air India visitor MR. Finally, how do you explain the following message I received from a researcher at the Louis Armstrong archives at Queens College in New York on August 24, 2009 when I consulted them to get independent information to rebut your repeated bogus and mean-spirited allegations? August 24, 2009 Dear Mario, We hold a date book from 1964 that provides some details. According to the date book, Armstrong arrived in India from Singapore on December 4, 1964, flying Air India. He stayed at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Bombay. He played two shows on December 5 and another two shows on December 7, leaving Bombay on December 9. The date book was the only item I found in our collections that relates to Armstrong's trip to India. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have additional questions. Sincerely, Lesley Zlabinger Archives Assistant Louis Armstrong House Museum Email: <[email protected]>
