Fascism does have its advantages. (I've seen Hitler's Olympiastadion in Berlin -- neat, clean, huge and lifeless.) So does colonialism. Ditto for the corporatism of Salazar, and the Estado Novo. I'm sure even Mario's ultimate bete rouge Stalin could achieve that kind of growth and 'order' with his iron-fist policies.
But do we want cleanliness and tranquility without social justice? How many would prefer to turn the clock back? If you're living here, it's another reality. It's far less complicated to create fantasy based on memories of the 'good ole days'.
