If MBA Scientist Mario's claim's of global cooling are correct, the though of public transportation in the freezing north sends shivers down my spine. Mario responds: I thank maha-statist Al Gore's spokesman Marlon for another opportunity to show that the claims by extreme environmentalists of catastrophic global warming are substantially overheated. But, not to worry, they will be right again after that. This is an 80% reduction in green house gas emissions by 2050 from a 2000 baseline, by only turning the western economies upside down. In the meantime Russia, China, India, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and all the less developed countries will be blissfully continuing to emit growing amounts of the plant food we have long known as CO2, now classified as a deadly poison. And what is the objective? To control 0.01% of the total earth's atmosphere that is man-made CO2, leaving untouchable the 0.03% of the total earth's atmosphere that Mother Nature produces. Also left untouchable is another huge chunk of greenhouse gas, water vapor, a.k.a. clouds. Perhaps statist Marlon can shown us, with some logic as opposed to snide remarks, how even shutting down the entire economies of the western world while the rest of the world continues business as usual is likely to achieve any meaningful change in total greenhouse gases. Let's leave aside for now the questionable notion that 0.04% of a clear gas in the atmosphere can trap heat like a "greenhouse" while letting in heat from the sun.
