Albert writes:- People in Goa (pardon me ) wants to be Englishman, hantin,,,
bolsant ,,,,. as the old saying goes. Many of our goans like to show off and so
they speak English and many of our children like to learn French. But people
outside India would prefer to speak konkani and keep their mother tongue alive
and many goans all over the world have goans club or cultural clubs and they
are actively active in konkani tiatros. Uk, Germany, US and many other places
have vibrant people and active clubs and programmes. I had written a play "
Mummy maka vengent dor and I had sent it to one Greg Carvalho in England. They
staged the show in three different places and when I got the DVD I was
surprised that their pronounciation of konkani was superb better than some of
us here and those when in Goa and whom I knew could not speak  a word of
konkani when they were here are now on the stage acting and singing beautiful
solos and duets too. I felt they were better than the professionals .These are
the people who have kept konkani alive because they must be using it when at
home and at their meeting place as that is the only to identify goans.
